beloved (poem)

oh beloved,

my love changes my blood

my soul

imagine the impact on yours

echoed in only thing I’ve ever known

this miasma of bliss was created from your lungs

begging you to breathe

easier

I prayed at the altar of my eternal devotion and cried

sobbed out the chunks of my collapsed lungs

bent over and vomited invisible sin

when only air appeared, I knew

it was never about me

not in that way

I was just the first toe dipped into salvation

fear chilled you

and you ran
