spite (poem)

A word which here means fleeting.

I’ve written myself into a thousand corners, begging for a release

begging for a sweet kiss on the mouth of a dying love

rescue this

allow us another chance at the

light. A word which here means terrifying.

because knowing me like this feels like a sin

feels dangerous in the honeyed palms of my affection

I worry for you here, worry for me in the crux of your

heart. A word which here means safe.

a shelter from ice cavern loneliness

too bad it never lasts

the cold is too strong and too thick to erase from my skin

it's unfair of you to chip away at it

unfair of me to

ask. A word which here means discern

decide to toss myself over this truth bridge

trust you and it will work itself out

trust me,

please. A word which here means understanding

means you know the me I am outside the walls of us

love the me trapped in the wallpapers of respectability

we want to risk this

understand that falling is messy but worth every stain

worth more than you could ever know
